Gold Cup Victory for ROWE RACING in the Spa Heat Battle
Heat, pressure, heavy traffic, nighttime racing, and setbacks: This year’s 24 Hours of Spa demanded everything from both drivers and equipment.
For ROWE RACING, the world’s biggest GT3 classic turned into a true test of endurance – with a convincing result: Gold Cup victory for the #998 and two BMW M4 GT3 EVOs crossing the finish line.
Ugo de Wilde, Tim Tramnitz, and Jens Klingmann delivered an impressively confident performance in the #998. From the start, the trio remained focused, quickly found a steady rhythm, and avoided unnecessary risks. Amid extreme temperatures, the team worked with precision and composure – delivering consistently strong stints, making clear strategic decisions, and executing flawless pit stops.
The reward was a clear and well-deserved victory in the Gold Cup by a wide margin. For ROWE RACING, this result underscores the capabilities of a perfectly coordinated team in a race that forgives no mistakes.
Spa also posed the toughest technical challenges. The extreme temperatures put a strain on all key vehicle components – from the engine and powertrain to the brakes and suspension. The fact that both BMW M4 GT3 EVO cars crossed the finish line without any technical failures is a strong testament to the reliability of the overall package developed by BMW M Motorsport, ROWE RACING, and the fuels used.
The #98 car, driven by Augusto Farfus, Jake Dennis, and Raffaele Marciello, also delivered a strong performance in the Pro Cup. Two tire failures prevented a potential top result, yet the team remained focused and brought the car safely across the finish line. Their professional handling of setbacks underscores the team’s resilience under extreme conditions.
Beyond the result itself, the success of the #998 had additional significance: it confirms the effectiveness of the joint mentoring program run by BMW M Motorsport and ROWE RACING. With Jens Klingmann as an experienced driver and Ugo de Wilde and Tim Tramnitz as up-and-coming talents, the program combines targeted development with measurable performance – as evidenced by the Gold Cup victory at Spa.
